Adidas and Aston Villa Turn Leaked Kit Launch Into A Neo-Noir Mystery
The campaign by M+C Saatchi, plays into the cinematic genre and showcases the inspired iconic Gaslamp design
21 August 2026
Adidas and Aston Villa have launched the club’s away kit for the 2026/27 season, with the design taking inspiration from the iconic gas lamps found around Villa Park.
The all-black strip features a gas lamp motif, creating a subtle yet striking look for when the team travels on the road in the upcoming campaign. The adidas Originals’ trefoil logo and the brand’s three stripes appear in gold detailing, alongside a special badge that sees the Lion emblem and star for the club’s 1982 European Cup victory appear without the traditional shield.
To celebrate the launch, adidas and Aston Villa have also unveiled a campaign featuring a film trailer for ‘Gaslamp’, leaning into the mystery neo-noir genre of cinema. Villa boss Unai Emery calls upon the help of a detective to find the culprit who has unveiled the new strip before its launch. The trailer features cameos from current stars Tyrone Mings, Matty Cash, Pau Torres and Missy Bo Kearns, plus club legends James Chester and Shaun Teale.
The Aston Villa 2026/27 away kit is available from 9am BST on Saturday 22nd August from Villa Stores at the stadium and the Bullring, in a range of adult and junior sizes, with short and long sleeve options available in adult versions, as well as select adidas retail locations and online at www.adidas.co.uk/football-jerseys.
