Volvo Car Partners With The Eden Project To Create A Multi-Sensory Experience
The work by Grey London transforms Outernet London into an immersive environment to celebrate the new fully electric EX60
06 October 2026
Award-winning advertising agency Grey London unveils The Human Recharging Station, a new multi-sensory experience for Volvo Car UK, created in partnership with UK Chairty Eden Project, to celebrate the launch of the new fully electric Volvo EX60.
Running from 1st–3rd October at Outernet London, the venue’s Now Building and Pop 2 spaces are transformed into an immersive environment - designed to give visitors a moment to step away from the hustle and bustle, relax and recharge with the power of nature.
The activation has been developed to celebrate the launch of the EX60, Volvo’s premium all-electric mid-sized SUV. It aims to draw in both passers-by and sustainability advocates bringing people closer to nature in the heart of the city.
Inspired by the rainforest Biome at the Eden Project, visitors listen to the sounds of nature through Bowers and Wilkins headphones, mirroring the premium sound system in the car, and enjoy a scent to aid relaxation. Meanwhile in Pop 2, guided meditation sequences will be shown on the screen to encourage a moment of pause and restoration.
Across both spaces, the concept draws on the EX60’s focus on a quieter, more serene journey, alongside Volvo and the Eden Project’s shared belief in the restorative power of connecting with nature.
Grey London, with its longstanding 12+ year relationship with Volvo Car UK, led the creative for the experience, working alongside HEX, The Event Business, and Initiative on the planning and production.
The Human Recharging Station builds on Grey’s continued work with Volvo Car UK, most recently to launch the EX60, using the car’s design and technology as the starting point for the experience. The activation at Outernet concludes Volvo Car UK EX60’s tour, where an anamorphic cube showing visuals of Eden Project was displayed at four locations last month – the Eden Project in Cornwall; Morecambe Bay, the future home of Eden Project Morecambe, opening in 2028; Canary Wharf’s Eden Dock, an urban waterside space created in partnership with the Eden Project to bring nature into the city; and Liverpool.
The experience ran from 1st–3rd October 2026 in the Now Building and Pop 2 spaces at Outernet London.
Chris Lapham & Aaron McGurk ECD, Grey London said: Nature is such a powerful thing. It’s a wonder that we all need to appreciate a little more than we do. So, to launch the new electric Volvo EX60 and use our partnership with the Eden Project we created this moment for concrete jungle dwellers to experience the mental healing properties of the iconic domed jungle instead. To get some much-needed plant rejuvenation before they cram into their metal tubes and head back to their concrete boxes.
George Williams, Head of Marketing Operations, Volvo Car UK added: Our partnership with Eden Project has always been rooted in helping people feel a greater connection with the natural world. Working with Grey, we wanted to bring that idea to life in a way that felt immersive and unexpected, while giving visitors a taste of the calm, considered experience we have created inside the new EX60.”
The EX60, revealed to universal acclaim in January, is designed to be a game changer for Volvo Cars and its customers. It delivers class-leading range of up to 503 miles, charges from 10-80 per cent in 16 minutes*, and is priced in line with the company’s best-selling XC60 plug-in hybrid.
The five-seater EX60 ends range anxiety, delivers a groundbreaking user experience and represents the next frontier in safety thanks to advanced core computing. It is also Volvo Cars’ first entry in the largest electric segment globally, allowing it to substantially increase its potential customer base and electric market share.
Andy Jasper, Eden Project CEO added: I just love that Volvo Car UK's Outernet experience transports people to Eden Project's magnificent rainforest, where people can experience astounding plants, listen to tumbling waterfalls and beautiful bird song. This magical immersive experience connects people with nature, so that for a time they can feel rejuvenated and inspired to care for the natural world. As Eden Project mark its 25th anniversary year, our charity has never been more grateful to our strategic partnership with Volvo Car UK who align with us in encouraging our vital reconnection with nature for the future health of our planet.
